Sonidos Serranos

Sonidos Serranos: Sounds of the Sierras...
Reflecting some of my family's interests: God's wonderful creation (especially mountains and hills!), music, and language...

Psalm 121:1-2 (NASB)

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.

Steel Siblings Christmas

The Steel Siblings and Cousins celebrated together on Saturday, December 19, since most of us would be coming and going over the next several weeks...

We love you, PaPa and Grandma!

In keeping with the siblings tradition, we recycled our wrapping paper from last year – and maybe even previous years?! Doing so enabled me to have a snow theme for all our packages. Hee! Hee! And I think we all brought snacks that we had managed to get for free or almost-free, too.

We tried the Drawing Names Thing for the first time; the general consensus seems to be that it simplified life, for the most part. And a highlight for us was being surprised with the coffee maker that plugs into the car. We had been joking that we could live out of the Suburban on deputation, but maybe now we really can?!

That evening, our family strolled through downtown – enjoying the Christmas lights, riding the carousel, and walking through the Mast General Store for the first time ever.

We did manage to snap a few pictures before the camera battery died...

We also learned that Mr. Poinsett, for whom a number of local landmarks have been named, was also the one for whom the famous Christmas Flower was named! Hes the one who first brought Poinsettias to the USA from Mexico. So, I guess it was an educational outing, too!
