Sonidos Serranos

Sonidos Serranos: Sounds of the Sierras...
Reflecting some of my family's interests: God's wonderful creation (especially mountains and hills!), music, and language...

Psalm 121:1-2 (NASB)

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.

Fun with PaPa & Grandma!

We’ve been having fun – and working hard – this past week with PaPa and Grandma.

So far, we’ve celebrated a boy’s (soccer-themed!) birthday with extended family. [I posted lots of pictures in an earlier post…]

We worked on dusting, moving, and dehumidifying the EMU Bible Institute books (which were basically in storage). The plan for next week is to organize the institute and college books into a usable library for all.

We made major steps in the much-needed clean-up of the back yard here at the “mission house” – and took advantage of the coals resulting from burning scrap wood to have a cook-out, complete with chorizos and hamburgers and all the trimmings!

We took them to Tres Cruces, our bus station & mall combination and showed off the Christmas decorations.

The cow choir, singing and swaying...

I love the wagon wheels!

Per DJ, we couldn’t break tradition and leave the mall without getting caramel popcorn from his favorite store, which we then had to share, sitting on a bench at the Plaza de la Democracia right across the street from the mall.

Yesterday afternoon, we took a bus out to Guazuvirá.

At the bus stop: Everyone looked cool in sunglasses!

The weather was perfect, and Dad and Mom got to see a lot en route. Once there, they got the grand tour of the camp – both inside and out – including the playground.

They loved the camp!

Mom especially noticed the plants and flowers at the camp and was amazed at the texture of the bark and the size of the red eucalyptus trees.

We spent the rest of the afternoon with Matías and Kristine and family at their extended family’s house in San Luis, the balneario next to Guazuvirá.

Dad and Mom are now on their way, with Chicha and Ursula, to Treinta y Tres, where they’ll spend the weekend. Today’s tearful good-byes were probably only a small-scale rehearsal of what December 29 will look like for the Little People... L

We four plan to head out to Pando this afternoon to set up for tomorrow’s “Christmas Tea” for the ladies. Please pray for a good turn-out this time – and, most of all, for God’s Name to be made big…
