Sonidos Serranos

Sonidos Serranos: Sounds of the Sierras...
Reflecting some of my family's interests: God's wonderful creation (especially mountains and hills!), music, and language...

Psalm 121:1-2 (NASB)

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.

More Fun with PaPa & Grandma!

Since returning from their long weekend in 33” (where they had a wonderful time!), Dad and Mom haven’t stopped. They saw twin teens from Pando baptized, participated in our Christmas program (a simple, mostly congregational affair) in Pando, and attended Es end-of-the-school-year program.

Pictures are worth (more than!) 1000 words; Ill let em tell the stories...

Elizabeth is now a rising 4th grader!

We also spent some time playing the part of tourists in Montevideo...

We enjoyed an outing to La Pasiva.
(And ate chivito al plato.)

We rode the Bus Turístico...

...took pictures at Plaza Independencia...

...and at the Puerta de la Ciudadela...

...and got a little exercise on the way back home.

Since our tickets were good for 24 hours, we got back on the Bus Turístico the next morning...

Montevideo has lots and lots of monuments!

We especially enjoyed our stop at the Mercado Agrícola...

Several days later we took a city bus to the southern-most tip of Montevideo and got there just in time to watch the sun set; we then walked a few block to one of our malls and checked out the Christmas decor and ice-cream cones there.

We packed the weekend full with a lunch-time visit to friends in San Jacinto on Saturday afternoon, a Christmas banquet in Montevideo on Saturday evening, and lunch with Daniel and Viviana and the girls in Pando on Sunday afternoon, complete with the rehearsal of several special numbers for the Christmas program for that evening.

D & V made sure Dad & Mom tried some typical Uruguayan goodies,
including pascualina, sandwiches olímpicos, masitas,
and real dulce de leche ice-cream.

On Monday we did some very last-minute Christmas shopping and enjoyed a picnic in the park – and the sunset  on the way home...

And this has been a very typical scene these days...
